La Palabra Salsa Romantica 1

Welcome music, entertainment associates, fans, and friends to my blog. I am really excited to have finally come full circle in my quest of establishing Salsa Romantica as the first of its kind to be played and danced to in venues around the world. When I performed at the China Congress during the Olympic ceremonies, I could not help but feel joy as I saw just how widespread Latin music is and how many cultures love our rhythm and style. We are muy romantica. El Tun Tun De Tu Corazon, is doing very well in countries like Venezuela and other latin communities and has kept the tradition going of my translation of English songs, like, Lady, into music de salsa.

Please feel free to comment on the music, the songs and the life of La Palabra. You can also follow me on Twitter, Facebook and My Space. To hear some of the music that I am known for go online to www.palabraonline.com.

  2. Hello everyone, as i traveled i can't help notice that our followers of salsa music and latin pop are truly thisrty for something new. After working on my new cd for over five years i trully hope my fans will enjoy how i have push the envelope in our gender of music. When i started Salsa Romantica back in 1981 with Todo se derrumbo and Lady, it really gave a jolt to our music, which lasted through the 90's. Now i'm excited about my new project titled "Musicholic".

  10. DJs BUY THERE OWN MUSID WITH STOLEN CREDIT CARDS: from the scheming dept
A group of people in the UK have been arrested after they allegedly put their own music on the iTunes Music Store and Amazon, then purchased it with stolen credit-card numbers. Police say they made 19 tracks and put them up in the shops, then spent about $750,000 on the music, grabbing about $330,000 in royalties from the purchases. It's quite the scam, since one difficulty in stealing credit-card numbers is converting them into cash. One way to do this is to sell the numbers themselves; another common way for people to do this is to take a stolen card, then go buy gift cards from a store with it, then sell the cards on the street at a discount. But selling Wal-Mart gift cards and hawking them on the street seems like an awful lot of work, compared to what a criminal with a computer and some music software can do. Of course, it's not too smart to continually buy the same tracks over and

On Second Thought, SoundScan Claims Mos Def T-Shirt Doesn't Count As An Album Sale
    from the that's-pretty-silly dept
On Friday, we thought that Mos Def's experiment with selling an album via a t-shirt (whereby if you bought the t-shirt, you got to download the album) was a pretty cool idea. What seemed even cooler was the claim that Nielsen Soundscan would count each t-shirt sale as an album sale. However, Soundscan has come out claiming this simply is not true:

"Nielsen Soundscan knows nothing about this and without knowing more, we have no intention of counting units triggered by the sale of a t-shirt."
The company offering up the t-shirts tried to explain, saying:
Instead of directly reporting retail sales through his company, Invisible DJ, Wineberg plans to relay the information back to the label. The label, in turn, can then submit the sale to Soundscan.
Hmm. That's not quite the same thing as saying Soundscan will count the t-shirt sales? And, it may be even worse, as Soundscan said it may count those sales submitted by the label, but only after "a discussion and negotiation." In other words, there's no real deal here at all, and nothing to suggest that the t-shirts will be counted as album sales.

Of course, that's ridiculous. In this era when the "music" is getting people to buy other stuff, the specific number of "album" sales is meaningless. We've seen artists who embrace these unique models making a lot more money from them, but they don't appear as top sellers because Soundscan only wants to count one (increasingly smaller) part of the ecosystem? That sort of thinking reinforces the misguided focus on the "album."

  15. In Remembrance of Michael Jackson
    Hi everybody!
Most likely by now you have heard the sad news of Michael Jackson’s passing and probably like me, you, also grew up listening to his music. As an artist myself, I feel very happy to have shared my moments in life with this great talent. I really echo the sympathy that the world is showing for such a great entertainer. He will be surely missed. It seems like just yesterday when we were all so happy in Detroit, where I won 1st prize for the Battle of the bands at the Detroit State Fair. After getting my trophy (which I still have) and seeing the Jackson 5 get on stage and perform their hit song, ABC all I could say was WOW!!!. I know each and every one of you probably have your own experiences with his music but I just thought I would share mine. So from me to you, please enjoy your life. When you listen to “I Hope You Dance”, the very first song on my new CD, Musicholic, by all means dance but reflect on the music, and the lyrics so that it will become a part of your life.
    Love
    La Palabra

  21. Whew!!!!!! we finally busted La Palabra's new CD, Musicholic out on the streets. Talkin bout some shi...tttt bout to get started. Its so smooth and luscious, the lyrics are undoubtedly edible, and should be treated as such. Musicholic is sure to be a crowd pleaser and a cultural stand all for Latin music. Palabra has magically transformed the most basic arrangements, and made them shine like Gold. Thus Musicholic is a Grammy nominated album. His hit El Tun Tun de Tu Corazon, holds the spot of #1, and stays true to its salsa romantica roots.
